About Rely.io

Rely.io helps companies measure and improve the reliability of their products and services. We do this by productizing industry-leading Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices that use Service-Level Objectives (SLOs) as the foundation of the reliability stack. This approach has been used by SRE leaders at Facebook, Google, Netflix, Zalando, and others for years now, using custom technology that they've built in-house. To democratize access to these practices and deliver billions of dollars in value to our customers, we need incredible talent to achieve this ambitious goal.

Investors — we’re proud to be backed by some of the top investors in the world: J12 Ventures, Techstars NYC, TheVentureCity, Shilling, and Google’s SRE Director , and more!

About the role

We’re assembling a fantastic team of experienced, product-minded engineers — our early team is made up of people who have spent years writing reliable and scalable software at scale for companies like OutSystems, BMW and EDP.

As an early Technical Lead, this is a unique opportunity to help shape the product and the way we build it. We’ve laid some good foundations, but we’re still very early in our journey, have a ton of things we want to build and a lot to learn along the way!

Some of your core functions will include:

  • Lead an engineering team.
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
  • Scope, design, implement, and own end-to-end feature sets.
  • Help architect core parts of our infrastructure from the ground up in a reliable way.
  • Have autonomy to identify, conceptualize, and launch new initiatives to enhance our developer experience.
  • Build scalable, resilient systems that support product and feature development.
  • Building a high-volume event intake platform where missing a beat means missing critical customer data.

About you

  • 5+ years of experience working with modern programming languages like Python, Golang, etc.
  • Proven production experience with a major cloud service provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Want to help build a team, not just be part of it. You’re happy to take the extra time to explain things, provide actionable feedback, and level up those around you.
  • Comfortable when faced with a lot of ambiguity, both technically and organisationally. You’re happy to tackle problems without a clear definition or solution.
  • Use technical debt as a tool. You care about resilience, tests and documentation, but understand there are times we need to ship quickly and make pragmatic tradeoffs.
  • Passion and ability to work well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and ambiguous environment.
  • Can empathize with the challenges of incident management and interest in developer-focused products.

How we work at Rely.io

We’re focused on creating a category defining company. You can read about our strategy to make this happen in Rely.io’s Strategy & Direction

To get there, it’s also very important to have a highly productive and collaborative work mode, which you can read about in How we work at Rely.io

We think of the company as a product, not just the software we're building. These are the values we are looking for in the people that join our team: Rely.io’s Core Values.

We care far more about your mindset and your ability to solve problems than your familiarity with the tools and languages below, so please don’t let that put you off applying. However, we know enjoying the languages and tools you work with every day is important, and so wanted to share a little about what you can expect.

  • Codebase: React, Python, GraphQL
  • Infrastructure: AWS w/ Terraform
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Monitoring & Observability: Sentry and of course detech.ai
  • CI/CD: GitLab, ArgoCD, Qovery

  • Other: Slack, Notion, Figma
